Onix has been selected as one of the firms in the running for moving Kiruna, a city in Sweden. Kiruna is a city in the north of Sweden that threatens to sink due to the extraction of iron ore from the mines. Therefore the plan is to move the city to a place 3 kilometers to the east. Onix has been selected for the next selection round for this unique assignment after a pre qualification in which 55 teams joined. Onix is for this assignment a member of the design team led by AIM. The other team members are: Noema Culture Mapping & Place (London), Atkins (Malmo), Farawaysoclose / Apocalypse Labotek (Malmö). The team has the assignment to design a plan for the move. In addition to our design team, there are 9 other international teams with whom we compete.
