Kiosk Domies Toen

Pieterburen, The Netherlands

The kiosk makes both a ticket box for musical concerts in the church and an entrance for the botanical garden “Domies Toen”. As an pulled out box the object stands at the edge of the garden, next to a Gothic brick church dating from the 15th century. Through the design the building distinguishes itself from his monumental surroundings.

The object is created from stacked pine wood beams. By piling up one kind of beam cross angle the construction is the building as its only ornament. Both buildings though not familiar in scale breathe the same purity concerning construction, material and ornamentation. By the use of material the object is taken up with its natural setting.
